Mangaluru court grants bail to Ravindra Nayak in mob-lynching case

Mangaluru, Sep 10: The II additional district and sessions judge, Mangaluru, has granted bail to Ravindra Nayak in connection with a mob-lynching case registered at Mangaluru Rural police station. The order was passed on September 8.

The petition was filed under Section 482 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023. The court allowed the plea and directed the release of the applicant on bail, subject to the following conditions:

• The applicant must execute a personal bond of Rs 1,00,000 with two sureties to the satisfaction of the court.
• He must appear before the Investigating Officer on or before September 22, for interrogation.
• He shall not tamper with prosecution witnesses.
• He shall not involve himself in any criminal activities or commit a similar offence.

Additionally, since the charge sheet submitted by the applicant was voluminous and required by him, the court directed the office to return the complete copy of the charge sheet to the applicant’s counsel.
