Mangaluru, Sep 3: The main road connecting the airport near Padavinangady – Bondel St Lawrence Church has deteriorated severely, creating serious inconvenience for the public who depend on it for daily travel.

Several deep potholes have formed along the sides of the road, and during the rainy season these fill with water, making them invisible. As a result, it has become common for passengers alighting from buses to step directly into the potholes, leading to incidents where many have suffered injuries to their hands and legs.

Since several schools are located in this area, hundreds of students use this road every day. The pothole-ridden stretch poses a high risk of children slipping and falling, leaving parents increasingly anxious.

Local residents, commuters, and school authorities have repeatedly appealed to the concerned officials to urgently repair the road, but no action has been taken so far. Even though the issue has been brought to the notice of elected representatives, no concrete measures have been implemented, and the condition of the road continues to worsen, sparking public anger.

With large potholes obstructing the way, vehicular traffic has also become extremely dangerous. Particularly at night or during heavy rains, when the potholes are not visible, the risk of accidents is very high, motorists have expressed concern.

Residents have urged the authorities to initiate repair work immediately, warning that if the problem is not resolved soon, they will be forced to launch a public agitation.
