Kundapur, Aug 31: In connection with house burglary cases, Kundapur police have taken custody of four inter-state theft accused from Haliyal police in Uttara Kannada district through a body warrant and are conducting investigations.
The arrested have been identified as Lakhan Kulkarni (31), Sandeep Lavate (25), Vivek Kumbar (26), and Aziz alias Chote (28), all residents of Solapur, Maharashtra.
On July 19, the accused had allegedly broken into the house of one Rohit, located on BB Road, West Block in Kundapur city police station limits, and stolen gold ornaments and valuables worth several lakhs of rupees. They had also burgled the residence of P Ravindra in Kundapur, stealing gold and silver ornaments worth Rs 4.57 lac.

In addition, they were involved in a theft in the jurisdiction of Haliyal police station. During interrogation following their arrest, they revealed their involvement in the Kundapur burglaries. Based on this, Kundapur police secured their custody, produced them before court, and the court has remanded them to judicial custody.
According to police, among the accused, Sachin alias Lakhan has as many as 28 cases registered against him across different parts of Karnataka, along with cases in Maharashtra and other states, and he has already been convicted in three cases. Aziz has two cases registered against him in Karnataka and also faces cases in Maharashtra. Sandeep has been booked in Maharashtra in cases of robbery and theft.
