Shubhra Saxena: From software engineer to UPSC topper and nation builder

Daijiworld Media Network - Uttarakhand

Uttarakhand, Aug 26: Shubhra Saxena’s story is a powerful example of determination and purpose. An IIT Roorkee graduate in software engineering, she began her career with a multinational company, but her desire to work for society led her to leave behind a high-paying job.

With focused preparation, she cleared the Civil Services Examination in her second attempt in 2008, securing the All India Rank (AIR) 1. Her disciplined study routine — eight hours a day, stretching up to 12 during exams — played a key role in her success.

Over the years, Saxena has served as District Collector in several Uttar Pradesh districts and as vice chairman of the Agra Development Authority. She also held the post of special secretary in the medical education department. Today, she continues her service to the nation as director at the Election Commission of India.

Her journey reflects how courage to take risks, backed by hard work and persistence, can transform a career into a mission of public service.
