Assam and West Bengal set up final clash in U-17 Subroto Cup Girls tournament

New Delhi, Aug 25: The Subroto Cup Junior Girls’ U-17 tournament has reached its climax with Assam and West Bengal storming into the finals after impressive semifinal victories at the Pinto Park Football Ground in Delhi.

In the first semifinal, Betkuchi High School from Assam put on a commanding display, defeating Kerala’s Lal Bahadur Shastri Memorial Hr. Sec. School 4-1. Nilina Brahma opened the scoring in the 9th minute, while Mari Mech stole the show with a superb hat-trick (25’, 35’, 48’). Kerala's lone goal came from Sanjana CS in the 37th minute, but the Assamese side remained in control throughout.

West Bengal’s Nandajhar Adibashi Pashili High School clinched a narrow 1-0 win over PM Shri GGSSS Mangali, Haryana, in the second semifinal. Diya Biswas netted the only goal in the 14th minute, and the team held strong under pressure to protect their lead and book a place in the final.

Both teams have displayed remarkable skill and determination, with players dreaming of a future in Indian women’s football. The final between Assam and West Bengal, scheduled for August 28, promises an exciting end to this year’s Subroto Cup campaign.
