Moodbidri: Youth succumbs to injuries days after Beluvai car crash

Moodbidri, Aug 25: A youth from Bantwal taluk who was critically injured in a recent road accident near Beluvai has died while undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Mangaluru.

The deceased, identified as Sandeep, hailed from Siddakatte of Bantwal taluk. He had sustained severe injuries in a car crash that occurred on August 16 on the National Highway near Beluvai.

According to police, Sandeep and three of his friends were travelling from Moodbidri to Karkala when their vehicle lost control and rammed into a road divider, resulting in a serious collision. The impact of the crash was fatal for Sumith, a resident of Permade in Venur, who died on the spot.

Sandeep and the other two occupants were rushed to a private hospital in Mangaluru. Despite receiving intensive medical care, Sandeep succumbed to his injuries on Sunday, nearly a week after the incident.

"The vehicle was reportedly speeding when the driver lost control," said a police official from Moodbidri police station, where a case has been registered.

Police investigations are ongoing to determine the exact cause of the accident.
