Mangaluru: MCC Bank hosts NRI Meet 2025

Mangaluru, Aug 18: MCC Bank a prestigious Bank with a legacy of 113 years of dedicated service, successfully organized its NRI Meet 2025 on August 17 at The Avatar Hotel, Attavar. The evening brought together non-resident Indian entrepreneurs, community leaders, and well-wishers for a vibrant celebration of unity, culture, and achievement.

The programme was presided over by ‘Sahakara Ratna’ Anil Lobo, chairman, and inaugurated by Fr Faustine Lobo, director, FMCI, Kankanady. James Mendonca, proprietor M/s Reliable Fabricators LLC, Dubai, Leo Rodrigues, MD Amigo Automobile Services SP LLC Abu Dhabi, Laveena Rodrigues, wife of Leo Rodrigues and Walter Nandalike, founder and managing director of Daijiworld Media Pvt Ltd were the guests of honour.

In his presidential address, Anil Lobo stated that the vision set by the bank's management in 2018 has been successfully realized, thanks to the steadfast support of its customers. He emphasized that recent innovations have bolstered customer confidence and highlighted the pivotal role of NRIs in the bank’s continued growth. He further stated, “As the bank grows, so does the community.” He encouraged customers to act as brand ambassadors of MCC Bank and congratulated Ms Remona Pereira on her extraordinary achievements. He concluded by expressing heartfelt gratitude to the board of directors, staff, customers, and community leaders for their unwavering support.

In his inaugural address, Fr Faustine Lobo acknowledged the importance of adapting to a constantly changing world. He commended MCC Bank for being proactive and responsive to external changes, thereby making life easier for its customers. He encouraged NRIs to always cherish their homeland and mother tongue, and expressed his hope that MCC Bank would continue to be a beacon of excellence among banks.

Walter Nandalike congratulated the chairman, management, and staff on their commendable progress over the past seven years. He eloquently remarked that there are three types of people. i.e. – 1) Who cannot see what others can see.2) One who can see what others cannot see.3) One who can see what others cannot see. He praised Anil Lobo for being the visionary who falls into the third category. Nandalike also lauded the staff for their friendly and professional service, describing NRIs from Mangaluru as the true brand ambassadors of MCC Bank for their sacrifices and contributions.

James Mendonca praised the bank’s tremendous growth and suggested initiatives to further strengthen NRI services, establishing a dedicated NRI desk, annual NRI meets in Mangaluru and Gulf countries, enhancing foreign remittance and allied services, strengthening cybersecurity to prevent online fraud and upgrading the mobile app with advanced NRI-specific features.

Leo Rodrigues shared his personal experience, praising the exceptional customer service offered by the staff, especially Jyothi Sequeira, branch manager of Kulshekar branch. He stated that his faith in MCC Bank had deepened and encouraged others to invest in their own community bank, emphasizing collective success over individual achievement.

The evening also featured the 49th birthday celebration of Arun Ivan Lobo, a valued NRI customer of the Ashoknagar branch.

Several distinguished NRI contributors and achievers were felicitated, including office bearers of the Konkani Cultural Association (KCO), Abu Dhabi, Leo Rodrigues (president), Valerian D'Almeida (vice president), Benette D'Mello (entertainment secretary) and Frankline D'Cunha (pearl jubilee convenor).

Remona Pereira, a renowned Bharatnatyam artiste, was specially honoured for entering the Golden Book of World Records for her exceptional 170-hour continuous Bharatnatyam performance—a remarkable feat of dedication and artistic brilliance.

Vice chairman Jerald D'Silva, and board of directors Joseph A Patrao, Andrew D’Souza, Dr Jerald Pinto, David D’Souza, Elroy K Crasto, J P Rodrigues, Herald Monteiro, Roshan D’Souza, Irene Rebello, Dr Freeda D’Souza, Melwin Vas, Vincent Lasrado, C G Pinto, Sushanth Saldanha, Alwyn P Monteiro and Sharmila Menezes were present.

The programme commenced with the bank’s anthem, followed by a prayer song by Alwyn D’Souza and team. A documentary showcasing the growth, products, and services of MCC Bank was then screened, highlighting the bank’s commitment to innovation and customer satisfaction. Raj Menezes, deputy general manager, provided a detailed overview of the various services tailored to NRI customers, reiterating the bank’s commitment to global Mangalureans.

Chairman of board of management David D’Souza welcomed and general manager Sunil Menezes proposed vote of thanks. Manoj Fernandes compered the event. The event concluded with fellowship dinner that fostered meaningful connections within the global Mangalurean community.
