Kundapur, Aug 16: A late-night accident narrowly spared the lives of a Thekkatte businessman and his son when a lorry rammed into their parked Innova car on NH-66 at Thekkatte. The car was completely mangled, but both managed to escape unhurt.

Ananth Nayak (57), managing director of Sri Ganesh Silks, Thekkatte, along with his son Anoop Nayak (23), had parked their Innova car by the roadside with the parking lights on, while waiting for another person to join them before heading to Koteshwar Sri Pattabhi Ramachandra Temple to participate in a bhajanotsava programme.

At that time, a lorry transporting onions from Pune to Mangaluru rammed into the rear side of the Innova, leaving the vehicle severely damaged.

Anoop Nayak said both of them escaped without injuries as they were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash.

Kota police visited the spot, conducted an inspection, and registered a case.

Seat belts, not only worn by the front occupants, but also by the people seated at the rear saves lives. My humble request for the person driving the car is to make sure that all the occupants in the car fasten their seat belts... Safe driving..
