Mangaluru: Scooter hits electric pole, entrepreneur from Kotekar dies on spot

Mangaluru, Aug 7: A 47-year-old entrepreneur from Kotekar died on the spot after his scooter rammed into an electric pole at Sundaribagh on the Thokkotu–Ullal road on Thursday, August 7 evening.

The deceased has been identified as Ibrahim, also known as Kamal, a resident of Kotekar who was currently residing at Mukkacheri. He was involved in the fish trade at Mangaluru’s Bunder area.

According to sources, Ibrahim was heading home from the Thokkotu side with his son riding pillion when he reportedly lost control of the scooter, which then crashed into an electric pole. He sustained severe injuries and died on the spot.

The case has been registered at Mangaluru South traffic police station. He is survived by his wife and three children. Known for maintaining cordial relations with all, his sudden demise drew a large gathering outside Sahara Hospital in Thokkotu.
