MCC Qatar to celebrate Monthi Fest 2025 with grandeur on Sept 12

Media Release

Doha, Aug 5: Mangalore Cricket Club (MCC) is delighted to announce the celebration of Monthi Fest, the traditional Mangalurean harvest festival, which will be held on Friday, September 12, at DPS Monarch School, Al Wukair.

Monthi Fest holds deep cultural and spiritual significance for Mangalureans, symbolizing unity, family togetherness, and gratitude for nature’s bounty. Upholding this cherished tradition for the 33rd consecutive year, MCC will once again celebrate the occasion with the traditional Novem Jevan—a festive vegetarian meal featuring an array of home-cooked delicacies that capture the warmth and nostalgia of family gatherings back home.

Highlights of the evening include:

• Blessing and sharing of the new corn, a sacred ritual symbolizing abundance, renewal, and community unity.

• Cultural performances by MCC members, showcasing the rich heritage and talent within the community.

• Special felicitation segment to honour dedicated teachers and recognize outstanding academic achievers among the members.

Guest of honour

Dr Lavina M Noronha, PhD, MSW, director of Ave Maria Palliative Care, will be the guest of honour for the evening.

Dr Noronha is widely admired for her unwavering commitment to humanitarian service. Her tireless work caring for the terminally ill and advocating for the underserved has made her a beacon of compassion and an inspiration to many.

MCC has extended a warm invitation to all members of the Mangalurean community in Qatar to come together and celebrate the meaningful occasion in the true spirit of fellowship, cultural pride, and gratitude. The evening promises to be a memorable blend of tradition, entertainment, and togetherness.
