Mangaluru, Aug 4: St Agnes School, CBSE, marked a pivotal moment in its illustrious history, seamlessly blending its annual general meeting of Parent Teacher Association with the resplendent closing ceremony of its diamond jubilee celebration. This landmark event served as both a poignant reflection on six decades of profound impact and a vibrant affirmation of the institution's unwavering commitment to fostering excellence, upholding core values, and inspiring visionary learning.
A distinguished array of dignitaries was welcomed with deep reverence, led by our vibrant school Band. the multilingual greeting served as a harmonious tribute to India's rich linguistic tapestry, eloquently embodying the ethos of ‘Unity in Diversity.’





























































































The gathering rose in reverence to welcome the dignitaries and special invitees who graced the occasion: Sr Dr Maria Roopa AC, president of the programme and joint secretary of the institutions; Dr Preethi Keerthi D’Souza, chairperson of the department of post graduate studies and research in commerce, Mangalore University; advocate Liston Derric D’Souza, vice president of the Parent-Teacher Association; Sr Maria Sarika AC, principal; Sr Letitia Lobo AC, KG coordinator; Sr Lavi Shanthi AC, and Tr Neesha the PTA secretary. They were also accompanied by our proud alumna, a trailblazing engineer at Rolls- Royce, Kumari Rituparna, the grade 10 toppers and subject toppers, led with honour by the band leader and the head girl, Priyanka Correa.
A distinctive symbolic welcome was extended by presenting a crystal jar to the guest representing every child’s potential — clear, precious, and full of promise. Sr Dr Maria Roopa was honoured as the foundation providing steady support and vision, the chief guest Dr Preethi Keerthi D’Souza as the light inspiring children to dream and achieve, and the PTA vice president; advocate Liston Derric D’Souza as the bridge connecting home and school with care. Together, these pillars were celebrated for upholding and nurturing each child’s growth.
The ceremony unfolded with a soulful instrumental invocation, a melodic offering that cultivated an atmosphere of serene gratitude and tranquil contemplation. The prayer service ‘Together, We Grow’ opened the parent-teacher meeting with symbolic gestures of unity and purpose. Students presented a candle, sapling, butterfly, and book — representing wisdom, growth, dreams, and learning. Guided by the narrator’s inspiring words, the service fostered gratitude and strengthened the shared commitment to every child’s holistic development.
This was followed by a heartfelt welcome address delivered by Sr Lavi Shanti AC, who, with grace and warmth, set an uplifting tone for the day, acknowledging the invaluable presence and profound contributions of all who have shaped the school’s remarkable journey. A captivating welcome dance further enriched the opening, its elegant movements and rhythmic expressions capturing the celebratory spirit in motion.
A profound highlight of the celebration was a thought-provoking dance drama titled ‘Hombelaku’, a compelling artistic rendition commemorating six decades of institutional excellence. The performance masterfully encapsulated the school’s transformative trajectory, portraying a journey rooted in its past yet boldly embracing a future where technology and tradition converge harmoniously. This powerful visual narrative underscored the enduring resilience of the school’s cherished motto: ‘God is our strength.’ It resonated deeply with the vision of St Agnes CBSE School as not merely an educational establishment, but a veritable crucible of values, purpose, and national vision—where foundational roots remain steadfast, and the spirit is unfettered to soar to new heights.
The annual general meeting of Parent Teacher Association commenced with Tr Neesha presenting a comprehensive annual report, meticulously detailing the key initiatives and notable achievements of the Parent-Teacher Association over the preceding academic year. The report vividly showcased the robust collaboration between parents and educators in advancing student welfare and fostering comprehensive school development. Following this, Sr Lavishanthi AC presented the audited financial statement, which clearly demonstrated exemplary financial stewardship and judicious resource allocation by the Parent-Teacher Association.
The chief guest, Dr Preethi Keerthi D’Souza, chairperson of the department of post graduate studies and research in commerce at Mangalore University, was introduced by Tr Vindhya. A distinguished academic with over 23 years of experience, Dr D’Souza is an acclaimed researcher, author, and international award winner in the field of education. In her address, she warmly applauded the principal, Sr Maria Sarika AC and staff for organising such a beautiful and well-coordinated programme. Expressing heartfelt gratitude, she remarked, “What I am today is because of my parents and teachers.” She recalled her earlier days as an active member of the PTA and conveyed her appreciation for being given the honour of serving as the chief guest.
She shared a simple yet profound message for parents. chief guest, Dr. Preeti D’Souza engaged parents in a thought-provoking session, beginning with questions on happiness, purpose, and life’s challenges. She likened children to young plants that must be nurtured with care, In her address, she emphasized a simple yet impactful strategy for parents: dedicate nine minutes daily to their children. This time should be divided into three-minute increments throughout the day, each with a specific purpose. The first three minutes, upon waking, are for a positive morning connection, setting a good tone for the day. The second segment is for actively listening to them after school, validating their experiences. Finally, the last three minutes are for a bedtime ritual of reading or storytelling, fostering a strong bond and a sense of security. Emphasising open communication, she encouraged parents to understand their child’s problems, appreciate the role of grandparents in building strong family bonds, and work closely with teachers. She concluded by reminding parents that happiness lies in living a contented life, loving what one does, and walking alongside their children on life’s journey. An engaging interactive session for parents was conducted, offering practical and insightful tips on effective parenting. The parents expressed their heartfelt appreciation to her for the valuable guidance and enriching perspectives shared during the session.
A proud moment for the institution was the honouring ceremony of alumna and a trailblazing engineer at Rolls- Royce, Kumari Rituparna, who has earned international recognition for her pioneering work in robotics and automation and is currently working with Rolls-Royce. She was honoured with a shawl, Peta, garland, memento, fruit basket, gift, and a potted plant, as a mark of the school’s deep respect and pride in her achievements. Adding to the joy, her parents Saresh and Geetha Saresh too were felicitated with a shawl and bouquet, acknowledging their unwavering support and encouragement in her remarkable journey. In her message she expressed her gratitude to the principal Sr Maria Sarika AC for the honour of being felicitated and went on to share her inspiring journey — from her early aspirations to becoming the youngest girl in India to work with Rolls-Royce. Addressing the students, she urged them to listen to their parents, be responsible, and nurture big dreams, working with dedication to fulfil them. Speaking to the parents, she emphasised the importance of never comparing their children with others, reminding them that every child is unique and deserves unwavering support and encouragement. Rituparna’s success story, rooted in perseverance and determination, stood as a beacon of inspiration for students, parents, and teachers alike.
The event honoured the outstanding academic performers of grade 10 (2024–25), celebrating their dedication, determination, and excellence. The felicitation segment was led by Tr Josephine, Tr Daphny, and Tr Velony with warmth and pride as dignitaries presented the school toppers — Jane Gorety Justin, Manvitha K, and Frizel Rishal Fernandes with a cash prize, memento, certificate, and a potted plant, while their parents received a potted plant as a token of appreciation. Subject toppers and students scoring above 90% were honoured with a memento, certificate, and a potted plant, recognising their hard work and commitment. All the parents were appreciated for their unwavering support, guidance and dedication in shaping their children’s success.

Emphasising that “children may forget what we say, but they will never forget how we made them feel,” she urged parents to spend meaningful time with their children, listen deeply, and offer encouragement that builds confidence and resilience. Addressing the challenges of modern parenting, she called for instilling values such as kindness, honesty, respect, and self-discipline, while ensuring children step into school each day proud and prepared. The principal conveyed her heartfelt appreciation to advocate Liston Derric D’Souza, the PTA vice president, for his composed leadership, unwavering presence, and sincere involvement in every school initiative. The programme then moved on to the announcement of the newly elected executive members of the Parent-Teacher Association, whose commitment, vision, and leadership will play a pivotal role in the school’s continued success and effective functioning. Tr Neesha presented the list of members, after which Sr Maria Sarika AC, the principal, extended a warm welcome by presenting each with a rose as a gesture of appreciation.
A significant and eagerly anticipated highlight was the unveiling of Agno Lumina, the diamond jubilee souvenir. Guided by teacher Shwetha, this segment celebrated the very essence and defining milestones of the institution, captured not merely in spoken words but in cherished written reflections and enduring memories. The souvenir, ceremoniously released by Sr Dr Maria Roopa AC along with the dignitaries, stands as a heartfelt tribute to the school’s illustrious journey and a luminous beacon guiding its future aspirations. The cover page captures the 60-year journey of St Agnes School CBSE through rich symbolism. On the left, Mother Aloysia with a lamp and students reflects the humble beginnings and the spark of education ignited decades ago. At the centre, a radiant tree with books, sports, leadership, and medals represents holistic growth and achievement. A golden path flowing from the lamp to the present signifies the continuous journey of enlightenment, education, and empowerment. The blend of traditional gold and orange with vibrant blue and green symbolises progress while remaining rooted in enduring values.
The meticulously planned programme concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks, delivered eloquently by Tr Divya Shasta, who expressed profound gratitude on behalf of the school. Her message graciously acknowledged the immense efforts, invaluable presence, and benevolent goodwill of every individual who contributed to the day's profound significance, bringing a graceful close to a truly memorable occasion. A memento was presented to the dignitaries as a token of gratitude and appreciation.
With a collective sense of unity and pride, the entire gathering rose in reverence for the National Anthem.
