Srinivas University observes International Day against drug abuse with awareness session

Mangaluru, Jul 5: Srinivas University, Institute of Port, Shipping & Logistics Management, NSS Unit organized an impactful awareness session on the occasion of the International Day against abuse and illicit trafficking on July 4 at the college auditorium.

The programme featured enlightening talks by Gayathri C H, Dy superintendent of excise, Mangalore Sub Division; Ashok A Poojary, superintendent of excise, joint commissioner’s office, Mangalore Division; and Lydia Lobo, administrator at Link De-addiction Centre.

The speakers highlighted the growing risk of youth involvement in drug abuse, its severe physical and mental consequences, and the stringent legal actions and penalties under narcotics law.

Lydia Lobo shared real-life stories of victims, offering a deeper emotional understanding of the issue. The session proved to be highly informative and thought-provoking, leaving a lasting impact on the students.

Institute of management & commerce dean Dr Venkatesh Amin, HoD Prof Venkatesh Amin, coordinator Prof Lalan Kumar & Prof Lakshmitha were present.
