Mangaluru, Sep 14: With the objective of fostering artistic talent, creativity, and awareness about eco-friendly celebrations among children ahead of Ganesh Chaturthi, a clay Ganesha idol-making competition was organised by Sharadhi Prathisthana (R) in association with Karavali Chitrakala Chavadi (R) on Sunday.

Around 120 children enthusiastically participated in the event, crafting Ganesha idols in various attractive designs using clay. The young participants added a special charm to the programme by bringing their imagination to life through their handiwork.

Corporator Kiran Kumar Kodikal, Saujanya Hegde, Ganesha Somayaji, Koti Prasad Alva, Puneek Shetty, and renowned Mumbai-based artist Madhusudhan were present at the event to encourage the children's artistic efforts. Artist Naveen Bangera conducted a live demonstration for the children on how to craft Ganesha idols from clay.

Speaking on the occasion, the dignitaries noted that such programmes not only cultivate an interest in art among children but also help them understand the importance of preserving cultural heritage and protecting the environment.

An art exhibition featuring works by the artists of Karavali Chitrakala Chavadi was another major attraction at the venue. Yoga guru Jagadish Shetty compered the programme. The event concluded with the distribution of prizes to the winners of the competition.
