New Delhi, Jul 3: In a major setback for yoga guru Ramdev, the Delhi High Court on Thursday, July 3, restrained Patanjali Ayurved from airing or publishing any advertisements disparaging Dabur’s Chyawanprash.
The court's order follows two interim injunctions filed by Dabur, which alleged that Patanjali’s promotional content misled consumers and damaged the brand's long-standing reputation.

Justice Mini Pushkarna passed the order, saying, “Application is allowed,” effectively barring Patanjali from circulating ads that question the authenticity of rival products.
In its petition, Dabur cited an ad in which Ramdev said, “Jinko Ayurved aur Ved ka gyaan nahi, Charak, Sushrut, Dhanwantari aur Chyawanrishi ke parampara mein 'original' Chyawanprash kaise bana payenge?”
Patanjali also claimed its Chyawanprash uses 51 herbs, as opposed to Dabur’s 40, and allegedly implied that other brands' products might contain mercury and could be unsafe for children—claims Dabur has strongly denied as false and misleading.
Patanjali countered that the ads were not targeted specifically at Dabur and were promotional in nature, with no direct comparisons or brand names mentioned.
This is not the first time Ramdev has faced legal trouble over advertising content. Earlier, the High Court had pulled him up for a video criticizing Rooh Afza, and last year, the Supreme Court rebuked him over derogatory comments against allopathy, a matter that was closed only after multiple apologies.
The case will now move forward, with the court’s interim relief providing Dabur temporary protection from further alleged disparagement.
