Pune, Jun 29: Pimpri-Chinchwad Police have arrested a self-styled godman for allegedly practising black magic, cheating people, and secretly spying on them through their mobile phones.
The accused, Prasad Bhimrao Tamdar (29), operated an ashram in Bavdhan where he lured people with promises of solving personal problems using astrology and black magic. According to police, Tamdar would ask visitors to download a mobile app, granting him remote access to their phones. He then allegedly coerced them into sexual acts with women, including sex workers, and secretly watched the recordings.

District Commissioner of Police Bapu Bangar said four complaints have been filed against Tamdar so far. He has been booked under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS) and the Maharashtra Prevention and Eradication of Human Sacrifice and other Inhuman, Aghori practices and Black Magic Act, 2013. Further investigation is underway.
Meanwhile, in a separate case in Chhattisgarh, 21 people were booked in Raipur for allegedly torturing three villagers on suspicion of practising black magic. The victims—Tilak Sahu, Naresh Sahu, and Amar Singh Sahu—were reportedly assaulted, paraded semi-naked, and subjected to brutal treatment during Holika Dahan on March 13. The FIR was registered on June 9 following a court order.
