Mumbai, Jun 26: In a deeply disturbing incident that has sparked widespread public outrage, a stray dog tragically fell to its death from the 15th floor of a high-rise building in Kandivali, Mumbai, after being chased and allegedly struck by a watchman. The incident took place around 8 am on June 18 and was caught on CCTV footage, which has since gone viral on social media platforms.
The heart-wrenching visuals show the elderly stray dog entering the building premises, possibly seeking refuge. It climbed up to the 15th floor, reportedly in search of shelter. Moments later, a senior security guard is seen following the dog, holding a stick in his hand.

The footage reveals the dog, in a state of panic, trying to escape the aggressive pursuit. In a desperate attempt to hide, it climbed onto a shoebox placed near an open window. As the guard allegedly struck the animal with the stick, the frightened dog leapt out of the window, plunging to its death.
The impact was fatal, and the dog died on the spot.
While the video has evoked a wave of anger and sorrow online, prompting calls for justice and strict action against those responsible, no official police complaint or FIR has been filed as of yet. Animal rights activists have condemned the incident and are demanding that the watchman be booked under the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act.
Efforts are currently underway to verify the identity of the watchman and ascertain the exact location and name of the building involved in the incident.
Animal welfare organisations have urged residents and housing societies to adopt more compassionate measures when dealing with stray animals, particularly during monsoon and summer seasons when they seek shelter in residential complexes.
As the tragic footage continues to circulate, citizens across the city have taken to social media platforms to express solidarity and demand swift legal action against the accused, stressing that cruelty towards animals cannot and should not go unpunished.
