Akola, Jun 13: Aishwarya Toshniwal, a second-year medical student from Akola district in Maharashtra's Vidarbha region, had a miraculous escape during the Air India plane crash in Ahmedabad. A student at BJ Medical College, Aishwarya was asleep on the fifth floor of her hostel when the ill-fated aircraft slammed into the college campus.

“This was the most terrifying experience of my life, which I will never forget,” said Aishwarya, still shaken.

Aishwarya managed to save herself by wrapping a blanket around her body and navigating through thick smoke. She had just returned from Akola after celebrating her grandfather’s birthday when the tragedy struck.

“She suffered burn marks on her face, hands, and legs but is safe,” a family member said.

After the crash, Aishwarya quickly called her father, Amol Toshniwal, who was at his saree shop in Durga Chowk, Akola. Stunned, he rushed home immediately.

“We were shocked when we saw the news on TV. But by the grace of God, our daughter survived,” said Amol Toshniwal.

Her mother, Madhuri, and grandparents broke into tears of relief. “She had come to celebrate my birthday. I thank God a hundred times that she is safe,” her grandfather said emotionally.

The Toshniwal family, while still in disbelief, expressed their heartfelt condolences to the families who lost their loved ones in the horrific crash.
