Bantwal, Jun 7: Vinesh Rai, son of late Ramesh Rai of Nellikkatte, who was recently found dead in a water tank on the banks of the Netravati river near Panemangalore, has submitted a formal request to the Bantwal town police circle inspector, urging a thorough investigation into his father's death.

Ramesh Rai, a resident of Nellikkatte and a member of the Puttur city municipal council, was known to be a strong-minded and compassionate individual who readily supported people in need, said Vinesh in his petition. “As per our understanding and media reports, my father left home around 7 am on the day of the incident. We have received credible information that he had been receiving threatening phone calls prior to his death,” Vinesh stated.

He urged the police to conduct a proper investigation, especially by obtaining and examining a detailed call report of a specific mobile number for at least one month. He also requested that the source of the alleged threat calls be traced and action taken against those responsible, if any connection to the death is established.

Former Puttur city municipal council president Jagadeesh Shetty Nellikkatte, Hariprasad Nellikkatte, and Yogeesh Rai from Mangaluru, who are also relatives of the deceased, were present while submitting the petition.
