Mumbai, Jun 1: A 36-hour block on the 5th line and yard lines at Kandivali Yard began Saturday afternoon to facilitate the dismantling of the elevated booking office, significantly impacting suburban train services on the Western Railway (WR) network.

A WR official confirmed that on Sunday alone, 47 suburban services were cancelled, disrupting local train operations for commuters. During the block period, suburban and Mail Express trains were rerouted to run on fast lines.

The block also affected long-distance services, with four trains either short-terminated or partially cancelled:

• Train No. 19418 Ahmedabad – Borivali Express was short-terminated at Vasai Road.

• Train No. 19425 Borivali – Nandurbar Express was partially cancelled between Borivali and Bhayandar.

• Train No. 19426 Nandurbar – Borivali Express was short-terminated at Vasai Road and partially cancelled between Vasai Road and Borivali.

• Train No. 19417 Borivali – Ahmedabad Express was partially cancelled between Borivali and Vasai Road.

A WR spokesperson noted that while the block was essential for dismantling work, efforts were made to minimize inconvenience by rerouting services and issuing public advisories. However, some local train users faced delays and disruptions due to the cancelled services.
