Kundapur, June 1: Based on credible information received by the Kota Police, action has been initiated against a provocative message and video circulated in a local WhatsApp group. Upon review, the video features Riaz from Farangipete, who had earlier made a controversial statement that had already led to a case being registered at Mangaluru South Police Station back in 2021.

The recent circulation of the same video, allegedly aimed at provoking communal unrest, was found to have been posted by Raghavendra Kanchan of Barikere, a former member of Udupi zilla panchayat. According to the police, the content was intended to incite local Hindu youth and create communal disharmony.

A case has now been registered against Raghavendra Kanchan at the Kota police station under Crime Number 108/2025, invoking Section 196 and 56 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

It is noteworthy that the accused, Raghavendra Kanchan, already has multiple criminal cases registered against him, including a double murder case at the same police station. He has been taken into custody and will be produced before the court.
