Mangaluru, May 22: The Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) carried out a ‘Tiger Operation’ on May 22 to remove unauthorized vending and encroachments on government land, footpaths, roadsides, and pavements across the city.
As part of the drive, MCC officials evicted illegal street vendors in key areas including State Bank, Kankanady, and Falnir. The action follows public complaints regarding obstructions caused by illegal vendors, which have been disrupting pedestrian movement and traffic flow.

Two days prior to the operation, MCC had issued notices to illegal vendors, warning them to vacate public spaces being misused for storing goods or operating fast food and petty shops. The corporation emphasized that such occupations are not only illegal but also pose serious inconvenience and safety risks to the public.
MCC has stated that further eviction drives will be conducted if vendors fail to comply, and legal action will also be taken against those found violating municipal rules.
The civic body has urged all vendors and business owners to cooperate with the administration in maintaining public cleanliness, safety, and smooth traffic flow within city limits.
