Dubai Airport introduces home-to-hotel luggage delivery, off-airport check-in for seamless travel

Dubai, May 19: Passengers arriving at Dubai International Airport (DXB) can now skip the baggage carousel entirely, thanks to a new range of services allowing luggage to be delivered directly to their homes or hotels. Departing passengers, too, can check in and drop off their bags remotely, fast-track through immigration, and enjoy a stress-free experience at the airport lounge.

The transformation comes as marhaba, a subsidiary of Emirates' airport services arm dnata, announces the integration of DUBZ, a smart baggage logistics company, into its growing service portfolio.

Three core services are now available through this integration: Check-In Anywhere enables passengers to complete check-in from their home, hotel, or office, where certified agents issue boarding passes and collect luggage for secure airport delivery. Land and Leave allows arriving travellers to walk out of the airport while their checked luggage is delivered within hours to their doorstep. Baggage Storage and Delivery offers same-day baggage delivery or flexible storage options — perfect for transit passengers, early hotel checkouts, or tourists wanting to explore the city unburdened.

Bookings can be made through marhabaservices.com, with designated service points across Dubai.

“We’re seeing a fundamental shift in how people want to travel,” said Jaffar Dawood, divisional senior vice president for UAE Airport Operations at dnata. Referring to IATA’s recent Global Passenger Survey, he noted that 70% of travellers prefer checking in luggage in advance to avoid airport queues. “Whether it’s a family simplifying their journey or a business traveller on a tight schedule, our goal is to remove friction and give back time and peace of mind,” Dawood added.

Since dnata acquired DUBZ in 2018, demand for its services has steadily grown. In 2024 alone, over 70,000 passengers used DUBZ’s offerings — a 15% increase compared to the previous year.

Looking ahead, dnata CEO Steve Allen pointed to the upcoming $35 billion DWC terminal, targeted for a 2032 opening, which promises a fully automated, queue-free experience powered by advanced biometric systems. “When you get off the aircraft to the terminal, your baggage is already waiting for you, or already sent to your home or hotel,” Allen said.

With these advancements, marhaba is positioning itself as one of the few providers globally to deliver a fully integrated, end-to-end hospitality journey — redefining the airport experience in Dubai.
