Bantwal: Community Day celebrated with faith and fellowship at Nirkan Church

Bantwal, May 5: Nirkan Church celebrated Community Day with devotion and unity on Saturday, May 3. The day began with a solemn Holy Mass with Fr Dr Joachim Walder serving as the main celebrant.

The Eucharistic celebration was concelebrated by parish priest Fr Leo William Lobo, along with Fr Naveen Pinto (judicial vicar, Mangalore diocese), Fr Michael Lobo, Fr Roshan D'Sa, Fr Melwin Lasrado, and Fr Justin. During the homily, Fr Naveen Pinto spoke meaningfully about the importance of building strong bonds within the parish community, highlighting the role of faith and service in nurturing unity.

After the Mass, a formal stage programme was held at St Thomas Church Hall, Nirkan. The programme was inaugurated by Fr Dr Joachim Walder, who addressed the gathering with words of encouragement and appreciation for the parish’s vibrant spirit.

On this occasion, Fr Naveen Pinto (judicial vicar, Mangalore diocese); Fr Michael Lobo; Fr Roshan D’Sa; Fr Justin; Fr Leo Lobo, parish priest; Sr Celin Vas, superior - Holy Family Convent; Vincent Bennis - vice president, PPC; Shanthi Veigas - secretary, PPC; and Vinutha Crasta, coordinator of small christian community.

The event continued with cultural performances by parishioners, showcasing their talents through music, dance, and drama.

The celebration concluded with a community lunch, offering an opportunity for fellowship and shared joy among all attendees.
