Two Palestinian teenagers killed in West Bank clash, Israel says firebomb attack

West Bank, Jun 22: Two Palestinian teenagers were shot dead by Israeli soldiers in the occupied West Bank on Monday, according to Palestinian officials, while the Israeli military said the two were involved in an attack near a Jewish settlement.

The incident took place in the Beit Ummar area, with Palestinian news agency WAFA reporting that the deceased were aged 15 and 19. Their identities were not immediately released.

According to the Israeli military, its forces opened fire on three individuals who were allegedly throwing fire bombs and burning tyres near the Karmei Tzur settlement. The military said one person was injured while two others were killed.

WAFA reported that the third person was taken to hospital and was in stable condition, while the Palestinian Red Crescent Society said the injured person was a 15-year-old.

Reuters could not independently verify the Israeli military’s account of the incident.

Israeli forces frequently conduct raids across the West Bank, while movement restrictions on Palestinian villages located near settlements have increased in recent months.

The United Nations and most countries consider Israeli settlements in the West Bank illegal under international law and a major obstacle to the creation of a Palestinian state. Israel rejects this position, describing the territory as disputed and citing historical Jewish ties to the region.

Meanwhile, attacks by Israeli settlers against Palestinians and their villages have also increased. According to UN data, at least 57 Palestinians have been killed in incidents involving settlers and the Israeli military since the beginning of the year.

Palestinians have also carried out attacks targeting Israeli soldiers and settlers in the West Bank, with Israel’s Shin Bet domestic security agency reporting at least one deadly attack in 2026.
