Kudupu mob lynching case: Another accused held in Gokak; total arrests now at 21

Mangaluru, May 1: In a significant development in the Kudupu lynching case, police have arrested another accused, raising the total number of arrests to 21.

The arrested individual, identified as Anil, had reportedly gone into hiding after the incident and was taken into custody from Gokak.

Police teams are continuing their efforts to trace others who went absconding following the brutal assault. As part of the investigation, notices have been issued to around 15 individuals who were present at the scene on the day of the incident, asking them to appear for questioning. Interrogations of several of these individuals are currently in progress.

Police Commissioner Anupam Agrawal stated that CCTV footage from across the Kudupu jurisdiction is being examined carefully. Authorities are also working to obtain assistance from eyewitnesses to reconstruct the events of the day and identify all those involved.

While the investigation progresses, the exact motive behind the incident remains unclear. Police Commissioner Agrawal told the media, “So far, we have not found conclusive evidence to establish a specific reason behind the attack. There is also no firm proof yet regarding the alleged slogans.”
