Mangaluru: Father Muller Research Centre launches student research club 'Inventios'

Mangaluru, Apr 16: Father Muller Research Centre (FMRC) marked a significant milestone on Tuesday, April 16, with the inauguration of "Inventios," the student research club of Father Muller College of Allied Health Sciences (FMCOAHS) and Father Muller College of Pharmacy (FMCOP). The event, held at the Decennial Memorial Hall, Knowledge Centre, was a celebration of innovation and academic excellence.

The inauguration ceremony was graced by chief guest Dr Iddya Karunasagar, advisor for Research and Patent at Nitte University. The ceremony was presided over by Fr Ajith B Menezes, administrator of FMMC FMCOAHS & FMCOP, Dr Antony Sylvan DSouza, dean of FMMC, Ramesh Bhat M, head of FMRC, Dr Shivashankara A R, staff mentor of Inventios.

The event commenced with a warm welcome by Dr Ramesh Bhat, followed by Dr Shivashankara's introduction of the 22 core committee members, highlighting their dedication and commitment to promoting research activities among students.









































In his message, chief guest Dr Iddya Karunasagar emphasised the importance of research for undergraduate students, highlighting that knowledge is always developing and what is in books may change. He encouraged students to ask questions, seek evidence, and cultivate curiosity and persistence in their research endeavours, emphasising the importance of teamwork, observation, and discussion.

The ceremony also included the unveiling of the club's logo and the presentation of mementos to ex-office bearers and volunteers for their contributions. About 200 students have already become members of the club, which aims to engage its members in at least one research activity.

Fr Ajith B Menezes, in his presidential address, spoke about the necessity being the mother of invention and urged students to observe their surroundings and come up with innovative ideas. He emphasised the importance of reading and evaluating, and encouraged students to discuss their ideas with faculty members to develop their interests further.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Prakruthi Kumar, president Inventios, expressing gratitude to all who contributed to the success of the event and reiterating the club's commitment to promoting a culture of research and innovation among students.

Asha DSouza and Surya Shridhara were the comperes for the event.

The office bearers for this year are:

• Prakruthi Kumar as the president
• Muthu V Nachiappan & Ocheal Serrao as vice-presidents
• Rhea Raj as the secretary
• Herlin Mendonca, Ishrat F Abbasi & Aysha Mihaal as joint secretaries.

The inauguration of "Inventios" marks a new chapter in the journey of Father Muller Research Centre, inspiring students to innovate, explore, and invent, and contributing to the advancement of knowledge and healthcare.
