Bommai takes responsibility for BJP's drubbing in Karnataka Assembly polls

Bengaluru, Jun 5 (IANS): Former Karnataka chief minister and BJP leader Basavaraj Bommai on Monday said that he will take responsibility for the saffron party's defeat in the May 10 Assembly elections.

Speaking to reporters after the meeting of BJP leaders in Belagavi, he said that they had introspected the party's defeat in the assembly elections.

"The meeting was convened to ascertain whether local issues or other reasons affected the elections," he said.

Bommai, meanwhile, expressed confidence that in the coming days, the BJP will get the support of the people.

"We have announced the candidates very late for the Assembly elections. The experiment of giving tickets to new faces did not work out. Local factors also affected the results. I will take the responsibility for the defeat," he said.

Bommai said the development activities should not stop at the cost of guarantee schemes in the state.

"In this background, I have written a letter to the Chief Minister, and requested him not to stop the Viveka project. This is not the BJP's scheme. The construction work of 8,000 school rooms has started. Let us see what the decision of CM Siddaramaiah would be. Based on that, we will respond appropriately. Siddaramaiah has not spoken about where he will mobilise the funds for the implementation of guarantee schemes. This has created doubts for the government," Bommai explained.

"The people have given a mandate to the Congress party. We will work as a responsible opposition party. If anti-people policies and programmes are taken up, the same people have given us power to oppose," he said.

No surprises here. When you win elections the credit goes to Modiji, but when you lose the responsibility is with someone else. Same with our sportspersons winning medals, our performers winning awards, our scientists making scientific breakthroughs etc etc and for all these successes Modiji is responsible, but whenever anyone fails, then someone else is responsible. New buildings Airports, infrastructure projects are inaugurated by Modiji and all credit goes to him, but any failures, accidents etc are someone else's responsibility.

PM's too many visits to the state. PM's too many visits to Karnataka was like diminishing marginal utility in economics. A little knowledge of economics is enough to understand DMU.

Tickets were given too late because you were afraid of the consequences of defection. It still happened as was expected. BJP has time and again used this ploy to battle the anti-incumbency factor but failed miserably this time because of total lack of faith in the government who was busy attending to Hindutva (not Hindu) issues instead of looking towards the future and development. The man from Delhi came and camped there for 10 days hoping to hoodwink the Kannadigas again and failed abjectly. You cannot fool all the people all the time. He even went to the extent of advising people to say 'Jai Bajrangbali' by blatantly using religion and the Election Commission was silent! It does say a lot about the Election Commission's neutrality. It has been said by Rahul Gandhi the BJP used money in a 10:1 ratio but to no avail. Now the fall guy who could not be salvaged by the man from Delhi and whose plans for ticket distribution he followed has fallen on his sword.

Bomma, I want to ask you a simple question....Why should voters of Karnataka should vote for you? What you have done so far makes them run towards Polling booth and hit Lotus Symbol ?? A. Because you are son of late Sangappa Rayappa Bommai, former Chief Minister of Karnataka and Janata Party leader? B. Because your Cabinet Colleague Sriman Eshwarappa was collecting 40% commission on all projects of his Ministry?? and even make your own party contractor to commit suicide?? C. Because your head is shining like a Full moon / Chauduvin Ka Chaand??? D. Your ministers made even DKS look clean in relative terms and as an Angel.... This is only part-1 ...part-2 will come during Lok Sabha elections of 2024....if CONgress does not do Corruption like before....for sure you will go to Tirupati after LS election....hiding your face...Tak...Takk...
