Mangaluru: Rahul Gandhi's disqualification as MP is democracy's murder - MLA U T Khader

Daijiworld Media Network – Mangaluru (EP)

Mangaluru, Mar 24: MLA U T Khader has condemned the disqualification of AICC leader Rahul Gandhi from his position as an MP, calling it a "murder of democracy".

Speaking at a press conference at the circuit house in Mangaluru on Friday, March 24, Khader expressed his concern over the court's decision to allow only 30 days for an appeal against Gandhi's two-year jail sentence. He questioned the justification of disqualifying Gandhi from his position as an MP while an appeal was still possible, and whether such a process would apply to all MPs in the future.

Khader also criticized the ruling party for trying to suppress the voice of Rahul Gandhi, who he believes speaks the truth, and called on every party activist to support him. He warned that if the ruling party is willing to target a prominent leader like Gandhi, it will not hesitate to go after ordinary citizens as well. Congress party district president Harish Kumar, as well as other party leaders, were present at the press conference.

Convicted by judiciary, disqualification is automatic by law. Notification by Loka Sabha is only a formality. According to Congress people, the law should be different for crown prince of principal opposition party.

Agreed with your comment that "Convicted by judiciary, disqualification is automatic by law."..... Also agree that "Notification by Lok Sabha is only a formality", but the haste of notification is absolutely biased..... The same haste was shown to disqualify Lakshadweep M P after a court verdict, but even after weeks of court dismissing his disqualification, he is yet to be reinstated as MP.... Is reinstating not automatic Mr. Madhav? .... Double Standards of Double Engine ?????

I don't know on what basis Rahul is considered as the top leader of Congress except for his relation with some past Prime Ministers and a surname as Gandhi. I really want to know his positive contribution / development to his constituency as a MP.

The judge had an option to give upto maximum 2 years in these type of cases ... He chose maximum simply because only if conviction was for 2 years and above Member MP ...stands disqualified ... Also speed at which this case was taken ... Many cases are pending in courts for years .. Many MP ‘s face far more serious charges including from bjp ... Wah bjp wah or. Modiji ... Operation warp speed ...

When our mr. Manmohan was prim minister same people teased him with no shame. Where was the rule that time? Now congress can dig all statement given previous by BJP and make the same as they did for Rahul Gandi.

The cheapest part of this saga is the accused was never allowed to speak in parliament by the administration using all the tactics available, some very very lowly to be done by anybody with a little conscience or guilt feeling! The reason why he was not allowed to speak in the parliament is nothing to hide from as even a fool would know it! By using such unethical means with such urgency and precise planning, these people have unwittingly hit the axe on their own legs!!

A huge set back for Bjp. With karnataka election around the corner congress will get sympathy votes and go on and on to win the state election.Time is the answer and bjp will repent for coming to such low.
