Mangaluru: Badminton tournament for Christian community players on December 13

Mangaluru, Dec 2: Christian Sports Association, Mangaluru, is all set to conduct the badminton doubles tournament for Christian community players of Mangaluru and Udupi district on December 13 at US Mallya Indoor Stadium, Lalbagh.

Director of Father Muller Charitable Institutions Fr Richard Coelho, administrator Father Muller Medical College Fr Ajith Menezes, managing director Daijiworld media Walter Nandalike, gold medallist Asian Master Athletics Mary Hilda Fernandes and deputy director department of youth empowerment Pradeep D'Souza will be the guest of honour for the inauguration ceremony of the tournament on December 13.

Events will be held for boys and men for the age group of below 15, above 15, above 25, above 35, above 45, above 55 and above 60. Events will be also held for girls and women for the age group below 15, above 15, above 25 and above 35.

The last date to enter for the tournament is December 7. Entry fee for the age group below 15, is Rs 200 per team. Meanwhile, for the other age groups, the fee is Rs 300 per team. The age count will be considered as on December 13, 2020, and players are requested to carry valid age proof documents, adhere to the badminton dress code, and wear non-marking shoes. The winners and runners up will be awarded with trophies.

Players have been requested to follow COVID-19 protocols issued by the government which includes wearing a mask, maintaining social distancing etc. There will be no entry without masks, entrants will be subjected to body temperature check and recording will be done before entering the match venue. Players are requested to bring their own water and refrain from shaking hands with the players and referee.

The valedictory ceremony will be held on December 13 evening at 7:30 pm. Former Mr World Raymond D'Souza, international weightlifter Prajval Lobo, Arthur D'Souza, international athlete Clifford Joshua and president Christian Sports Association Ivan Pinto will be guests of honour for the valedictory function.
