Mangaluru, Oct 27: Hindu Mahasabha Karnataka unit has demanded to place ban on Hindi movie, 'Laxmmi Bomb', duly accusing it of hurting the sentiments of the majority Hindus and providing impetus to concept of ‘Love Jihad'.
Addressing a press meet on Tuesday October 27, Akhila Bharath Hindu Mahasabha regional secretary Dharmendra said, “'Laxmmi Bomb' with Akshay Kumar in the lead is being released in theatres on November 9. The film has been named after Goddess Laxmi purposefully and there is conspiracy in releasing the movie on the occasion of Deepavali festival.”
He said that naming a film after Laxmi, a highly venerated Hindu Goddess, has hurt the Hindu sentiments. "Name of the actress in the lead role is 'Priya Yadav' and hero is Asif. By showing love affair between a Muslim youth and a Hindu girl, it purposefully supports ‘Love Jihad’. Hindu Mahasabha demands to place ban on the release of the movie. Actor Akshay Kumar is seen behaving like belonging to the third gender as per the trailer. He is duly draped in red sari, with long hair, big red Bindi on the forehead and trident in the hand when dancing, which is like ridiculing the Hindu Goddess. Likewise, it is like insulting transgenders. Producer of the movie Shabina Khan and playwright Farhan Samaji, have purposefully provoked communal enmity in the movie.
“When ‘Lipstick Under my Burkha’ and ‘The Da Vinci Code’ were released, stay order was brought on the films for hurting Muslim and Christian community’s religious sentiments. Why is the Hindu community considered to be so cheap and such movies are made which hurts Hindu sentiments? We feel even the censor board is involved in this conspiracy. If the film has to be released, some objectionable scenes have to be deleted and the film has to be recertified,” he said.
State convenor Jagan Kumar said that the Mahasabha wanted to know whether the movie makers have the guts to name their films, 'Fatima Bomb' Taseema Bomb' etc and release the same during the Eid. He also questioned whether this is not partiality against the Hindus. He warned that unless action is taken against the concerned, Hindu Mahasabha will join likeminded Hindu organisations and fight against the injustice.
District president Dhanraj Poojary, Mangaluru south constituency president Akshat Shetty, Mangaluru south constituency president Vasanth Ameen, district general secretary Sujeer Shetty, among others, were present.
