Kundapur, May 22: Provision for self-quarantine will be discussed with the chief minister and chief secretary as requested by several people in the district, said MP Shobha Karandlaje. She was speaking in a meeting about curbing the spread of COVID-19 held in taluk panchayat auditorium on Friday.

There are 4,013 people in quarantine centres in the taluks. Their number is likely to rise further as many people are expected from abroad, she said.

The deputy commissioner, G Jagadeesha said that a committee of 12 expert doctors is formed under his leadership to obtain opinions from time to time. Test results of 400 people are expected per day in the lab that will be started in the district hospital, COVID-19 process is continuous. It has not stopped, he said.

Byndoor MLA B M Sukumar Shetty stated that there are people who are hesitant to work in some quarantine centres.

MLAs, police officials, health officials, panchayat officials and political leaders were present.
