Haveri: Pathetic state of roads - Family conducts photoshoot to draw attention

Daijiworld Media Network – Haveri (EP)

Haveri, Nov 7: In a move to draw the attention of elected representatives, a couple and their young son posed for photographs to highlight the severely damaged condition of roads in Badagi town in the district. The pictures have gone viral on social networks.

They have done a photoshoot of the road which is uneven, riddled with potholes and resembles more like a dug up field in some places. The photoshoot of Badagi town residents Kiran Kumar, his wife and son has drawn the attention of all. Netizens have slammed elected representatives and also asked them to repair the road at least after this.

Pictures of the couple stopping their bike in the ditches on the road and walking dangerously, standing holding hands of each other, sitting on the road and sleeping in front of deep potholes, father and son standing on drainage manhole folding hands and the son playing with paper boat along with other children in stagnated water on the road, have gone viral.

    This is unique way of protesting, sending message and bringing the seriousness of the pathetic condition of the road to the concerned authorities,departments,elected representatives.Only when the elections are due ,all the candidates come to our door steps and beg for the vote.Once the election is over,these so called elected representatives nowhere to be seen to address the problems plagued in the concerned area/ward.Very sorry episode.Why they have been elected?. We have elected them by casting our valuable votes only in the hopes that they will do something good for our area/ward.But here the matter is reverse.I am asking the public,do we need such irresponsible elected representatives.Boo them out.Let them resign,if they can't address people's grievances.

    MCC elections on 12th. Many candidates are visiting houses requesting for votes and their first development point is repair of roads. Look at the road at pumpwell circle and Nanthoor circle.
    We're living in a smart city with junk roads. Shame on all politicians and all the political parties.

    @Vishu

    I feel they should have carried a big poster of the concerned MP and MLA of the area to add more punch to their social media photographs.

    Mr. Shetty,
    Mangalore is in the Map. The roads are not good, not only in Mangalore but whole of Karnataka. I lived and worked in Bangalore, lived and traveled in Mangalore and whole of DK, Udupi districts. But I have decided never to travel again in those areas because roads are bad. You worship BJP, Congress doesn't matter for me. Government has to arrange to repair the roads. To make the roads safe for you, me and for our children.
    I live in Torornto. But heart is in India. It belongs to Tulunadu. But only if you all make it safe for us to live. Jai Tulunadu..

    First time in 70 years !
    What an innovative & creative way of convincing the concerned authorities.
    Even our forefathers never suffered on their walk ways comparing to our road condition in
    21st Century. Common, when Kudla will become a smart city ? Why the citizens need to pay taxes, just fill the pockets of higher ups. ?
