Kundapur: Red Cross taluk unit celebrates Geneva Convention Day

Kundapur, Aug 18: Geneva Convention Day and fund collection awareness march was held by Red Cross unit of the taluk in coordination with Youth Red Cross units of colleges of Universtiy on Saturday, August 17 at the Kalamandir of Kundapur Board High School.
 
Dr S S Mukheshwar, assistant commissioner of Kundapur sub-division, who inaugurated the programme, said, "Red Cross is doing a great job by donating blood. This organization does not have any national boundaries or affiliation to a language. The main aim of Red Cross is humanity. The work of Red Cross, which creates oneness, integrity and unity among all the people of this world, is commendable."
 
The programme was presided over by Dr S Jayakar Shetty of Kundpur Red Cross. Dr M Dinesh Hegde, principal of Basrur Sharada College spoke on the importance of Geneva Convention.
 










































 
Principal of Koteshwar first grade college Dr S Rajendra Nayak, Dr Uday Kumar Shetty, Prof Umesh Shetty Kothadi of Shankaranarayana first grade college, Prof Chandrakala of Koteshwara ECR college, chief of students' welfare committee of Bhandarkars college Prof Ramachandra, Red Cross treasurer Shivarama Shetty, coordinator Muthiah Shetty, coordinators of youth Red Cross of colleges and students were present.
 
Dr Umesh Puthran of Red Cross welcomed the gathering. Secretary Y Seetharama Shetty rendered the vote of thanks. The programme was compered by Dr Sony D'Costa.
 
The foot march, on account of creating awareness about the Geneva Convention Day, was flagged off by Dr N P Narayana Shetty, principal of Bhandarkar's College. The foot march was carried out from Bhandarkar's college to Board High School.
