Kundapur: Byndoor Forest Fire Extinguished

Kundapur, May 13: The wild fare that was posing grave danger to the forest in Kosalli Ambikanu forest region near By ndoor has been doused. Senior officials have rushed to the spot to take stock of the situation.

As timely action was not taken to extinguish the fire after wild fire started blazing in the region on the evening of May 9, the fire had spread to the entire hillock, posing grave danger to the thick forest and nearby villages. The villagers worked day and night to douse the fire, as the fire brigade vehicles could not reach the area for want of any roads.  By Tuesday orning, the fire was doused.

Fire brigade senior ifficer Varadaraj from Bangalore, district fire control officer Shivappa Gowda, regional fire controller Basavanna, revenue officials, distroct forest oconservator O Palaiah, assistant forest conservator Kishore Kumar and officials of the wildlife department conducted spot inspection.

Several acres of forest and rubber plantations have been reduced to ashes in the said wild fire.
