Kasargod, May 16:The investigating team involved with the murder of two youth Congress workers at Periya has succeeded in arresting an accused who is said to have been directly involved with the said murders, from Mangaluru international airport. The arrest was affected on Thursday May 16.

The arrested accused has been identified as Subeesh, resident of Uduma Pakam.

Subeesh had fled to a foreign country after committing the crime. The police team nabbed him immediately after he landed at the airport here. He is said to have directly participated in the crime. With this arrest, the number of people arrested for these murders so far has reached 14.

Kripesh and Sharathlal, youth Congress workers, had been killed by a gang on the night of February 17 this year. The crime branch investigation team gathered information about Subeesh having fled the country and therefore had decided to seek help from the Interpol. In the meanwhile, the team got information that Subeesh was returning home. On the basis of this information, he was arrested on Thursday morning from the international airport at Mangaluru. Subeesh, a head load worker by profession, had gone abroad after remaining at his native place for a few days after the murder.

In the meantime, CPM Uduma zone secretary, K Manikantan, and Periya local committee secretary, Balakrishnan, who were arrested two days back in the case, have been granted conditional bail by the court.
