Bantwal: Fire accident burns down major part of house, belongings

Bantwal, Apr 23: Major portions of a house in Balthila near Kalladka were gutted in a fire accident which happened on Monday April 22 afternoon. In addition to the house, things worth lacs of rupees were burnt down.

Owner of the house, Chandrashekhar Naik and other family members, residents of Kallapapu in Dandemaru, Kalladka Balthila, had left home to take part in the marriage function of a relative organized at Buntara Bhavan at Brahmarakootlu when tragedy struck.

Along with the residential house, about 40 quintals of areca nut stocked inside the house, was also gutted. Personnel of the fire brigade here helped in dousing the flames. Local MLA, Rajesh Naik Ulippady, tahsildar, Sannarangayya and others visited the house. Taluk panchayat member, Laxmi Gopal, and others were present.
