Kundapur: Shamala S Kunder elected president of taluk panchayat

Kundapur, Jan 11: Shamala S Kunder was elected president and Ramkishan Hegde vice president unanimously of Kundapur taluk panchayat.

Shamala Kunder had submitted her nomination for the elections on January 11. Malini K who had also submitted her nomination withdrew it later. Therefore, Shamala Kunder was elected president. As Ramkishan Hegde had submitted his nomination for vice president, he was elected unopposed.

The positions were vacant as former president Jayashree Mogaveera and vice president Pravin Shetty had resigned for their posts. Shamala S Kunder the newly elected president represents Kirimanjeshwar taluk panchayat constituency. Vice president Ramkishan Hegde represents Basrur constituency.



Assistant commissioner T Bhoobalan was the election officer. Taluk panchayat chief executive officer Kiran Padnekar was present.

Kundapur BJP president Suresh Shetty Kadooru, Byndoor BJP president Sadananda Uppinakudru, fishermen federation president Yashpal Suvarna, Zilla panchayat members Babu Shetty, Laxmi Manju Billava, Suresh Batwadi, Srilatha Suresh Shetty, Shobha G Putran, Byndoor BJP secretary Deepak Kumar Shetty, Kundapur BJP secretary Bhasker Billava, Shanker Ankadakatte, fishermen board president Sadananda Balkoor and others were present.

Shamala Kunder said that she will work sincerely with the cooperation of all the members. “I will distribute funds equally among all the constituencies and will try to obtain more funds. I will work hard for the development of taluk earning the trust of officials,” she said.

Vice president Ramkishan Hegde said that he will perform his duties in the guidance of elders. “I will bring to the notice of concerned people the demands and necessities in the taluk. I will indulge completely in the remaining two and a half years,” he said.
