Belagavi: JD(S) chooses Dharme Gowda as council deputy - surprises many

Belagavi, Dec 19: As expected, the post of the deputy chairman of legislative council has gone to JD(S). In a surprise development, JD(S) chose to field Dharme Gowda as its candidate for the post. Till the last minute, everyone believed that Srikanthe Gowda of JD(S) would be fielded by the party.

Under instructions from top leadership, Dharme Gowda filed his nomination for the said post with council secretary, Mahalakshmi. Bhoje Gowda, Srikanthe Gowda and Appaji Gowda as well as Basavaraj Horatti of JD(S) signed as proposers. As he is the only person to file the nomination papers, Dharme Gowda's election would be unanimous and declaration about it is being made on Wednesday, December 19. .

Some JD(S) sources said that the post of the deputy chairman has been unexpectedly finalized and the party chose a person with an eye on strong financial backing.

JD(S) will also be able to get the post of chief whip for which either Chowdareddy Topalli or T A Sharavana may get the party's nod.

    Gowdas are smart., they unite, elect, choose in such a way politics under their control..so far already 8 Chief minister from gowdas community. even in film industry see their monopoly ..

    Coastal should have own political party, kudla people can be also be king/king maker. question is who is that leader ?
