Kasargod, Nov 23: The two-day ‘Tulu Janapada Jatre' programme being organized by Kerala Tulu Academy, will be inaugurated at Satyanarayana High School premises in Perla in the district on November 29 at 4 pm.
K Radhakrishnan, Kerala assembly speaker, will inaugurate the programme, said Venkataraj Puninchattaya, president, Kerala Tulu Academy, speaking at a press conference here on Friday November 21. Dr V S Acharya, Karnataka home minister, will participate in the function as the chief guest. Local MLA C H Kunhambu will preside over the function.
MP P Karunakaran, district commissioner A T James, Kumble Sundar Rao, president, Karnataka Yakshgana Academy, A K Nambiar, president, Kerala Janapada Academy and Narayan Kharvi, president, Karnataka Konkani Academy will take part in the inaugural function as guests.
Nadoja Dr Kayyara Kinhanna Rai, veteran poet and C Raghavan, litterateur, will be felicitated on the occasion.
A variety of Tulu folk dances will be performed from 7 pm onwards, followed by 'Koti Chennaya' Yakshagana performance at 9 pm. A book stall and exhibition have also been arranged at the venue.
Malayalam writer P V K Paneyal will inaugurate a seminar slated to be held on November 30 at 10 am. Malar Jayaram Rai, senior journalist, will preside.The Kutumbashri artistes will display their talent through a folk dance performance at 2 pm. At the valedictory function to be held at 4.30 pm that day, Dr Paltady Ramakrishna Achar, president, Karnataka Tulu Sahitya Academy, will deliver the valedictory speech. Venkataraj Puninchattaya will preside over the function.
MLA C T Ahmedali will felicitate those who have contributed immensely towards the enrichment of Tulu culture.
S V Bhat, president, border unit, Kannada Sahitya Parishat, Kerala, Adoor Umesh Salian, honorary president, Tulu Koota, Balakrishna Puttige, senior journalist from Mangalore, S Jagannat Shetty, zonal manager, North Malabar Grameena Bank, Pada Khandige Perla, Paddana artiste, B Balakrishna Aggitaya, Ramanat Rai, member, Manjeshwar block panchayat and T Balakrishna Bhat, vice president, Enmakaje panchayat, will participate in the programme..
'Nenapu Deele' Tulu play will be staged at 7.30 pm.
MLA C H Kunnambu and Academy members Umesh Salian and Geeta Samani were present at the press conference.
