Vijayapura, Nov 8: A pregnant woman was killed by slitting her throat on Tuesday at Yalagur village in Nidagundi taluk, Vijayapura district. This is suspected to be a case of honour killing. A case stands registered at Nidagundi police station and the police have begun probe.

The murdered woman had married a person from another caste. She has been identified as Renuka Shankar Nayaka (22). She was from Shirawara village in Manvi taluk, Raichur district. She fell in love with Shankar Nayaka from Mukkalagunde Tanda near her village. As the girl's family was vehemently opposed to the marriage, the couple had shifted base to Yalagur village in Nidagundi taluk two years ago.

Renuka, who got pregnant, wanted to strike a truce with her parents. She spoke to her mother over the phone and invited her to come and stay with her. Her mother had come to Yalagur along with the victim's brother and sister's husband. When Shankar was away on work, Renuka was murdered by slitting her throat, it is said. Renuka's story in several ways resembles the one depicted in the famous Marathi movie, 'Sairat'.

What is a honour killing?Instead they themselves lost the honour before God and soceity.did they have any?Their own blood and flesh ,in her house,.Feel so sorry .God how she must have suffered.and a baby in her must have cried for justice.Hearlt sympathy to the family of her husband.let God give peace to her soul and be with angels the unborn baby who had no chance to see his fatheror mother.
