Moodbidri: Murder of Paul Goveas – son Dolphy found guilty

Daijiworld Media Network – Moodbidri (ANK)

Moodbidri, Oct 10: The principal district session on October 8 ruled that accused Dolphy Goveas, resident of Ajekar, was found guilty of murdering his father Paul Goveas (83) and murder attempt on his brother Stany Goveas (54) on April 14, 2017.

Case was investigated by Moodbidiri police inspector Ramachandra Naik. There was total of 36 witnesses. Dolphy Goveas was booked under IPC section 302, 307, 201, 427 and 447.

During the investigation, Police took the statement of Stany Goveas and had named the attacker as Dolphy. During the investigation DVR was taken to possession from Dolphy.

Kadloor Satya Narayana Acharya sitting judge of Cheif district and session court conducted hearing in the court.

Pushparaj Adyanthaya had argued for the prosecution. Quantum of punishment yet to be announced.

It may be recalled that on April 14, Paul Goveas a farmer living near Shediguri Chaitanya Yuvaka Mandal, was hacked to death and his son was injured by Dolphy Goveas with a sharp weapon.

Stany had named the attacker as Dolphy, his brother. Stany had invited his father to accompany him to the Holy Mass scheduled at Hosabettu church on the occasion of Good Friday between 5 pm and 7.45 pm that day. Paul said he was not willing to attend as his hand was paining. When Stany came back and was parking his motor bike, his brother, Dolphy, who was wielding a sharp weapon which looked like a sickle, reportedly shouted at him in Konkani, demanding his belongings. When he tried to murder Stany, the latter escaped but suffered injury to his head and ear. Later, Stany found his father in a pool of blood in the kitchen, it is gathered.

Dolphy, who is into Shaminana hiring business at Moodbidri, used to stay in the house of his parents-in-law at Ajekar. Wife of Paul Goveas had committed suicide under mysterious circumstances during January 2015 when no one else was at home. Many had suspected by the way the body of Lilly was hanging, that she was killed and hanged there. There were allegations that she was murdered on account of land dispute, and fingers were pointed at the role of Dolphy. But there was no headway in establishing his role in this murder.

Out of five children of Goveas, two sons are involved with dispute over landed property and the other three are daughters who live at Mumbai, Canada and Ooty. It is said that recently Paul had registered a land that was in his name in the name of his daughter, Felcy, living at Canada. He also had given power of attorney in favour of his son, Stany, with whom he lived. A case over property between Dolphy and Paul Goveas is pending in court. It is said that materials related to Shamiana business were scattered in the property of Paul Goveas, who objected to the visits by Dolphy.

The murder, as per an estimate, happened at around 7.30 pm. It is said that although CCTV cameras are installed around the house, DVR is not available. The cameras have not been touched.

yeah right so Stany and others will get Dophy's share! what a thinking bro.
who knows what is the real issue. how you feel if your parents and sister taken you out of the property and you just struggle hand to mouth. so much politics within family and none of us know what is the reality. anyway, sad ending which made Stany and his sister rich and Dolphy out! just a thot!

old aged parents: just sell your properties and enjoy the life or donate to the charity or equally divide among the children whoever they are. if not "mei hu na" there are so many needy :) or else RIP soon terrible death from the children only.

such a waste of property and family. what is the point of giving property to the daughter who is in Canada instead of giving something to the son who is doing shamiana business which is of course seasonal, we all know.

I dont agree at all. If the son has harassed his father then he has full right not to share his property. There may be reason for giving property to his daughter. She must have helped Parents financially when they are in trouble.

THIS IS A LESSON FOR ALL FATHERS. THE SON IS A SON.. FATHERS DUTY IS TO DIVIDE THE LAND EQUALLY TO ALL CHILDREN. IF A FATHER DOES PARTIALITY THIS IS THE FATE FOR FATHERS...
otherwise he should not divide anything till he is alive..

I don't think that father has to give property to all his children...... If the children are good than father has to divide the property to all his childrens but if some of his kids wasting father hard earned money than that child don't have right to have fathers property.

@Shan Dubai, children are good or bad ,Father /Parents have to be fair to them.Give each of them their what they deserve.Otherwise like here ,beginns hatred, partiality within brothers/sisters which lead extreem hatred ,misery and last comes very sad end.It shouldnt happen.Probably this accused son had not got anything from father or mother.Thatswhy he was staying with inlaws.Of course everyone expects something from them help in form of money when business does. All children are not same .But parents too shouldnt show partiality among them.Father gave property to daughter who is not in land must have angered him all the time. Now brake came whatever the situation was.He shouldnt have done it .but it is too late. Here everybody was at fault.Sorry he looks a bit psychological instabile. But let the court decide about him in all sides.May his soul rest in peace.
