Mangaluru, Apr 16: Less than two days after the murder of Paul Goveas, a resident of Karangana in Hosabettu village, Moodbidri, took place, the police have succeeded in nabbing the accused.

Addressing a press meet here on Sunday April 16, police commissioner Chandra Sekhar said that Paul Goveas' younger son Dolphy has been arrested in the case by the Moodbidri police.

As per the complaint filed in Moodbidri police station, Paul's elder son Stany had invited his father to accompany him to the Holy Mass scheduled at Hosabettu church on the occasion of Good Friday that day. When Stany was parking his bike at Paul's house, his brother Dolphy came there with a sharp weapon, shouting at him in Konkani. He allegedly tried to murder Stany, but the latter escaped with injuries to his head and ear. Later, Stany found his father in a pool of blood in the kitchen.

The Moodbidri police who took up the investigation gathered evidence in the case, based on which they Dolphy into custody at Ajekar in Karkala on Saturday April 15.

During interrogation, Dolphy said that he was saddened and angry at the fact that he was suspected of murdering his mother Lilly who had reportedly committed suicide in 2015. Dolphy had said that even though he had not murdered his mother, fingers were pointed at him. He also said that after his mother's death, he was put out of the house and his gold belongings were kept by his father Paul and brother Stany. He also confessed to have killed his father in the kitchen of his house by bludgeoning his head and stangling him, and then trying to murder Stany. Thinking both had died, Dolphy escaped from the spot, the police commissioner said.

"Dolphy was depressed as his father and brother held him responsible for Lilly's death, and the fact the he was not given a share in the property. Lilly's death is still under investigation," the Chandra Sekhar added.

To a question on who paid the hospital bill of Ahmed Qureshi, who was allegedly tortured in police custody, he said, "We do not know who paid the hospital bill. It is all between the court, the jail and the hospital. We (police) are just escorting him. He has been shifted to Wenlock hospital again, and he is fine. Some miscreants are spreading rumours that he is serious."

DCP Sanjeeva Patil was present at the press meet.

We are in the end part of our lent. Jesus died for our sins and saved us. Yet some people are becoming so materialistic. Do we carry this when we die? If younger son had killed his mother, the court will declare so once it has all the proofs. Until then we do not require to take revenge. Keeping his belongings solves nothing but what we here now. My request is please remember that the time will come to leave everything behind. When not known. Till then let's, remember to forgive everyone and love oneanother.

VERY SAD THING IN LIFE THAT SON KILLS FATHER , WIFE KILLS HUSBAND (SHETTY ,SMURDER)FOR THE REASON OF PROPERTY AND MONEY GREED THE REASON IS OUR PUNISHMENT IS NOT PROPER FOR MURDERING GIVE DEATH PENALTY IMMIDIATELY THEN ONLY THIS TYPE OF MURDERS WILL GET REDUCED.GIVE ONE OR TWO HANGOUTS ALL THIS GREEDY KILLINGS WILL STOP.FOR SILLY REASON. PARENTS ALLWAYS GIVE MORE IMPORTANT TO SON THAN DAUGHTER,WITH HOPE THAT MY SONS WILL LOOK AFTER PARENTS AT OLD AGE , . WHAT FATHER GET BRUTAL DEATH.
GIVE GOOD EDUCATION TO CHILDREN , IF THEY ARE WELL EDUCATED THE POSSIBLITY OF SUCH INCIDENTS IS LESS.

What is this ? Is father/mother cheaper than property ? What a shame !

We have grown materialistic. One should have the determination to earn/buy his/her own property, inheritance is secondary. Parents, educate your children and advise them to stand on their own feet, not to live with expectations. Including girls, buy your own jewels, do not anticipate any of it at your marriage from your parents. Self earned wealth/property is much more valuable than what you will inherit.

Just go through the history . People who are not capable
To earn their own / are the one who trouble their old
Parents / demand their share of property , if they are not loked after in their old age .

Parents should donate the proceeds to st antonys ashram or similar charitable institutions.

Mr. John, i believe you do not know about that family. I knew Mr. Paul personally, what even his son done not acceptable anywhere. he should be punished as per the law of senior citizen act. It is very easy to comment why the son not studied and completed his education. Mr. Paul has given everything what the son needed. Property is his hardened money and he will give to whom ever he wishes

I agree with Sri Karakala here. Community Leaders / Religious leaders should use their talent, influence in such cases to bring peace in the house (should have done this long time back).
First look in to route cause of the problems. The process involves, time, efforts, prayers and even money but we can settle many issues and bring peace.
