Udupi: Car accidentally catches fire - providential escape for occupants

Daijiworld Media Network - Udupi (SP)

Udupi, Sep 9: A Maruti-800 car, that was moving towards Mangaluru, suddenly caught fire when moving near Jodukatte here on Saturday September 8. As the woman who was driving the car and another occupant of the car noticed flames leaping out of the bonnet, stopped the vehicle immediately on the road and walked away to safety, no one was injured.

It is gathered that a few people, who were going by this spot at the time, showed interest in capturing the proceedings on their cellphones. None of them contacted fire station.

A youth who realized this, walked to the office of the fire brigade office, which located about half a km from the spot, and alerted them. However by then the car had been charred completely.

The town police arrived on the spot and took up investigation about the ownership of the car, reason for burning etc.

How bad and sad.One is running to the firebrigade house,to inform ,of course thought of them as rescue, was but too late, others were very busy clicking fotos instead of pickup mobile and call would have saved something.even it takes some minutes or half anhour to reach the place ,.Instead when someone had a fire fighter cylinder could have used to save the car..I think people should be taught how to save a life in emergency and in case of fire how to react.but certainly not to film and send to magazins.
