Mumbai, Oct 11: The makers of ‘Ramayana’ have unveiled two new posters featuring Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram and Arun Govil as King Dashrath, offering a glimpse into the emotional bond between the father and son.

One poster shows Ram bowing before his father, while the other depicts him performing asthi visarjan, the ritual immersion of his father’s ashes in a sacred river.

The makers shared the posters with the caption, “A father bound by a promise. A son bound by duty. Neither knew this goodbye would be their last.”

The posters highlight the relationship between Ram and Dashrath and the emotional moments surrounding the king’s death. Arun Govil’s casting has also attracted attention, as he previously portrayed Lord Ram in Ramanand Sagar’s popular 1987 television series ‘Ramayan’. In the upcoming film, he will play King Dashrath, the ruler of Ayodhya and Ram’s father.

The new posters follow the introduction of Lara Dutta as Queen Kaikeyi and Sheeba Chadha as Manthara. In the epic, Kaikeyi seeks the fulfilment of two promises from King Dashrath, leading to Ram’s exile. Manthara, her attendant, influences her decision, setting in motion the events that shape the story.

Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, ‘Ramayana’ is being developed as a two-part cinematic adaptation of the Indian epic.

Ranbir Kapoor plays Lord Ram, with Sai Pallavi as Sita and Yash as Ravana. The cast also includes Sunny Deol as Hanuman, Ravi Dubey as Lakshman, Arun Govil as Dashrath, Lara Dutta as Kaikeyi and Sheeba Chadha as Manthara.

The film is produced by Namit Malhotra’s Prime Focus Studios in association with DNEG and Yash’s Monster Mind Creations. The music is being composed by AR Rahman and Hans Zimmer.

‘Ramayana: Part 1’ is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on November 5, 2026, with its Indian release set for November 8. The second instalment is planned for Diwali 2027.
