Mangaluru: Honest bus conductor returns Iphone to owner, receives accolades

Mangaluru, Jul 20: A private city bus conductor has returned to its rightful owner a new Iphone found by him in his bus and received appreciation from all circles.

The owner of the mobile, an Afghanistan based student, said that he is confident that all Indians are good. The honesty of the bus conductor who handed over his mobile found in his bus has increased his love and faith on Indians all the more, said the student.



Afghanistan based student, Sadam Mukreshi, hailing from Mir Kasim who had joined first year degree course in Mangaluru University, Konaje had lost his mobile from his pocket while returning to his hostel in Deralakatte on Wednesday, July 18 after college. He searched in the hostel CCTV and near the college, but could not find it. He hesitated to go to the police station as he is a foreigner. But he informed his classmates about the missing mobile. They had assured that those who find it will hand it over to him. The mobile was new and its SIM card was not activated. Internet also was off. Therefore, it was impossible to call to the number or call over whatsapp. The records in the mobile were more precious for the student than the instrument itself.

Manjanady resident Narayana (51), conductor of city bus Sushmita plying between Konaje and Mangaluru had found the mobile. He had decided to inform if he receives a call and return it to the owner. But he received no calls even after several hours. The conductor who decided to hand it over to the police on Thursday, saw a receipt in the cover indicating that the owner is a Konaje Mangaluru university student. He went personally to Konaje university administration block and contacted public relation officer Priya. He met the student and handed over the mobile to him.

Model conductor

Narayana who is working in the bus as conductor for several years has indulged in various social works. There are instances of his giving his money and that collected from his friends to the helpless who are admitted in hospitals for treatment. Several groups and associations have honoured him for his service. He has become an example for other bus conductors by handing over the valuable mobile to its owner.
