Dammam: 12 talented singers enter semi-finals of GVOM Season 6

Dammam, Jun 11: 'Aangann Konknnechem' organized the auditions of Gulf Voice of Mangalore (GVOM) Season 6 on June 8. Twelve of the singers entered the semi-finals which will be held on September 21 this year.

The male and female winner of the semi-final round will be crowned ‘Voice of Arabia 2018’ and they will represent Saudi Arabia in the finals of GVOM-6. The grand finals will be on November 9 in Kuwait.

The day of auditions was a memorable one for the Konkani speaking community in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The morning session began with thanksgiving and felicitation to Mark Tellis. After lunch, the session began with registrations by the participants. Nine male and seven female contestants registered for the auditions. The auditions began with female participants followed by male participants.

The judges for the event were Pramila Rodrigues and Dr Ivor D’Souza.

Hailing from Udupi and a teacher by profession, Pramila Rodrigues has worked for 18 years in International Indian School, Al Jubail. She won the ‘Sur aur Tal’ award for Eastern province conducted in 2004. She achieved twice the crown of ‘Voice of Arabia’. In 2014, second runner-up in Gulf Voice of Mangalore at Oman.

Dr Ivor D’Souza hails from Kulshekar and a dentist by profession working at Bella Medical Centre, Al Khafji since three years. He is a musician playing the keyboard for the last 10 years. He has played for many popular bands and troupes in Mangaluru like Angels, Wonders and Waves.

The judges were felicitated by AKR Gurkar Arun Palimar while the winners of the audition round of GVOM 6 male were felicitated by coordinator Richard Rodrigues and female winners by coordinator Naveen Melwyn D’Souza.

The six male and six female semifinalists of the GVOM 6 auditions were announced by cultural secretary of 'Aangann Konknnechem' Saritha D’Souza Palimar, who was also the compere for the event.
