Get on track for a global career with SJEC's specialized degrees. SJEC strikes the perfect balance between specialized degrees and transferable skills. Mechanical, Electrical and Electronics, Electronics and Communication, and Computer Science and Engineering. After the initial two year accreditation cycle 2013-2015, the programs have been further reaccredited currently for the years 2016-2019. The NBA accreditation guarantees international standard of SJEC’s teaching-learning practices and facilitates mobility of our students to colleges abroad.

Initiated for the betterment of deserving students
Established in the year 2002 with the initiative of the Bishop of Mangalore Dr Aloysius Paul D'Souza, SJEC is fulfilling the long cherished dream of the Diocese of Mangalore. The Diocese of Mangalore manages over 250 educational institutions and its contribution to transforming education is second to none. But there was a vacuum as the Diocese did not have a professional technical college to cater to the increasing number of students of the community, especially from the rural background and the poor, who wanted to pursue professional technical courses, until SJEC was formed.
Being a Christian minority institution, preference is given to Christian students when admitting students to various programmes in the College. Out of the total intake of 540 seats for B.E. courses, 40% is set aside for CET students, 30% for COMEDK, and 30% for Management Category students. Christian students taking admissions under COMEDK quota are offered seats at highly discounted fees (equivalent to CET fees) depending on the merit of the candidate. Students from all over the country and even from Gulf countries can also answer COMEDK to get admission to SJEC. NRI students can also seek admission through the NRI quota after appearing for COMEDK.
Adding sophistication to the process of learning
SJEC has continuously upgraded facilities for its students. The infrastructure has been modelled to suit the academic, residential, sports and recreational requirements of the students. The college has most modern infrastructure including spacious and well ventilated class rooms, fully equipped laboratories, central computer center, campus wide Wi-Fi connectivity with 280 mbps internet speed, sophisticated seminar halls for every department, 10000 square feet auditorium, modern library with online journals, multiple play grounds for indoor and outdoor games, cafeteria, bank, dispensary with full-time Campus doctor and nurses, and all other amenities to ensure an ideal learning atmosphere for students. The college also has a counselling center with a dedicated Campus Counsellor to help the students adjust to professional studies.
SJEC also provides its students training on industry relevant tools, such as, ANSYS, CATIA, CADENCE, LABVIEW, MATLAB, etc. to enable the students to be job-ready and possess desirable skill-set to excel in their career. The institution also organizes training programs in soft-skills in association with reputed training institutes to enhance the aptitude and communication skills of students. Value education classes are made as part of regular academic calendar to impart valuable life lessons to ensure overall personality development of students.
The institution also has an elegantly built and self-sufficient separate boys and girls hostels. It has vegetarian and non-vegetarian food facility, staff quarters, security systems, chapel, separate multi-gym facilities for boys and girls, separate utility block etc. The institute has a guest house which has a capacity to accommodate up to 40 guests. A coffee-hut and a cane juice center are also present in the campus.
Transportation
A streamlined transport facility with eight buses is put into service which runs routes covering almost all parts of the city to facilitate commuting of students.

The institute arranges visiting faculty from different parts of the country and from varied fields to supplement and synergize the curriculum with practical applications. The college faculty is always encouraged and provided all support to explore the possibilities of research and development. They are encouraged to publish research papers at national and international forums and are encouraged to keep pace with the latest developments in their field. The institute accords top priority to attract, nurture and retain its faculty and technical manpower. Scholarships
We understand that young people have dreams, big dreams, and we want to help them to achieve them. SJEC has set up scholarships and grants for socially and economically underprivileged students, especially young catholic from the rural areas who cannot afford the cost of professional technical education. Our range of scholarships and grants make education attainable for determined students. This financial year alone the college has given scholarships and concessions worth Rs. 4.5 crores. Grants like this provides opportunity to young people with exceptional talent in any field to broaden their vision abroad and improve their skills to operate in society, thus making them a future vehicle of change in their environment.
SJEC proudly announces the launch of ‘Design and development smartlabs’, the first start-up to come up in the SJEC campus. Initiated by John Baptist Rodrigues, an SJEC alumnus from the Class of 2016, and facilitated by SJEC, the company will focus of R&D solutions for product design. The Company is currently housed in the Center for Engineering Innovation Block of the College.
Moving from glorious past to a vibrant future
In just 16 years, SJEC has been placed among one of the top ranking professional colleges. And now the management is determined to ensure that the institution scales greater heights in the days to come and has been making concerted efforts in that direction. Obtaining autonomy for its programmes by 2020 is one of its goals. Autonomy would help the institution to be more student-centric and offer better courses. SJEC plans to enter into a MOU with important institutions and industries, both nationally and internationally.
The Institution has set-up an ‘Industry Interaction and Entrepreneurship Development Cell’ in the college with sub-affiliations across all departments in the college, which conducts training programmes aimed at generating industry exposure among students. Regular industrial visits, seminars, and video-conferences are held to facilitate interaction.
Plans are also afoot to initiate PG programs in advanced multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary areas of engineering and technology by 2020. The departments of Physics, Chemistry, and Mechanical Engineering have obtained research grants from Department of Atomic Energy (DAE), VGST-Karnataka, and Indian Plasma Research respectively amounting to Rs 90 lacs, for their selected research projects. Seeking more funds for R & D, encouraging the faculty to complete Ph.D. qualification is also under progress. The college has also set up a vibrant and pro-active alumni association with Chapters in Bengaluru and Mangaluru. A plan to set-up an alumni cell in Dubai is being worked upon. Collaborating with other universities and encouraging cultural exchange programmes are also among the future plans in an effort to make SJEC a reputed and sought-after professional technical educational institution.
Placements
The Institute has successfully managed to secure placements to many premier and MNC Companies from past many years. It is also a matter of great satisfaction that corporate giants like TCS, Wipro, Robosoft, HP, IBM, Bosch, Infosys, Tech Mahindra, ITC Infotech, L&T Infotech, Sonata Software, Yahoo, Aditya Birla Chemicals, Indian Navy, Amazon Web Services, HDFC Mutual Fund, Cadence, E-SoftSys etc., have recruited students of SJEC.
It is a matter of great pride that SJEC has had a placement status of more than 1000 plus placements in the past 3 years. The Placement and Training Department of SJEC regularly conducts programs to enhance the soft-skills and aptitude levels of the students.
It has been a very fruitful journey of a decade for SJEC which has climbed the popularity chart to emerge as a reputed institution in a short period. SJEC provides value-based education by adhering to the ideals of faith, truth, respect and professional ethics. St Joseph Engineering College is affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belgaum Karnataka State and is recognized by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi, India established in the year 2002. Four of our B E programmes are re-accredited by National Board of Accreditation (NBA) for the years 2016-2019. The college offers top class education in Engineering, Business Administration and Computer Applications at UG, PG and Research levels. It has well qualified staff, state of the art laboratories and all other required facilities. Presently about 2400 students are studying in the college.
St Joseph Engineering College provides value-centered Engineering and Management education grounded in faith, ideals of truth and respect, shaping our students as ethical professionals. Our aim is to ensure that students have the skills necessary to succeed in today's competitive job market with such balance. I am proud to say that recently the Indo Universal Collaboration for Engineering Education (IUCEE) has recognized St Joseph Engineering College, as a Transformational Leader in Engineering Education for the year 2017. Secondly, our students from Mechanical Engineering have won various events such as SAEINDIA AEROINDIA, SAE BAJA, AIRBORNE etc in state and national level and also many of our students participated in VTU University level tournaments, won medals and brought laurels to the College.
In the last three years more than 1000 students have been placed in reputed companies. With this I am happy to say that our College is marching towards greater heights of accomplishment.
