Mumbai: Faye D'Souza gets RedInk 'Journalist of the Year' award

Daijiworld Media Network – Mumbai

Mumbai, May 16: Faye D'Souza, Executive Editor of ‘Mirror Now’ has been awarded this year's RedInk Award for 'Journalist of the Year' for her blistering coverage of issues that touch the lives of common people.

The award, for Excellence in Journalism, is instituted by the Mumbai Press Club and is a part of the National RedInk Awards.

"Her passionate and honest style with which she handles subjects like corruption, political opportunism, price rise and communalism over calendar 2017 has made her and her programme ‘The Urban Debate’ a subject of appointment viewing. For those who miss her slot on TV, go to her on social media and their smartphones, where her videos are popular and widely shared," a press release issued by the club said.

The press release added that the awards were bestowed "after a lengthy period of consultation with a large number of editors and senior members of the profession,”

"This is an amazing honour coming from seniors in the journalistic fraternity. ‘Mirror Now’ is only a year old and our attempt has been to put out the news focusing on the citizens as the most important part of our democracy. It is a massive boost for us to know that the channel is successful and is being well received," D'Souza told media.

Veteran journalist Mark Tully will be presented with the RedInk Award for Lifetime Achievement in Journalism for his “long and outstanding contribution to Indian journalism”. Mark Tully worked with the BBC for a period of 30 years before resigning in July 1994. He held the position of Chief of Bureau, BBC, Delhi, for 20 years.

RedInk Awards for Excellence in Journalism are given in 13 competitive categories to 32 journalists. The awards will be presented at a ceremony at the Jamshed Bhaba Hall in NCPA on May 18.

Congrats Faye D’souza. You deserved the award as one of the best anchors. We do have other anchors who conduct their shows with a lot of decorum and we can sit through the debates which they anchor . But some anchors can really be terrible and they are not able to handle well. It is more of a shouting match . Each one tried to overdo and they don’t have real issues. Watch Arnab only giving candit support to BJP and it’s men but has no qualms in degrading the Congress and anyone supporting them . Any anchor has to be non - partisan and then only people will try to watch their shows.

Our sincere congratulations to Ms. Faye D'Souza for being the recipient of the Redlink Journalist Award of the Year. Journalism plays an important role in our daily life. A journalist has all the responsibilities in his or her hands to transform the message in writing so that it reaches every conscience of the individual in the way the message is meant.

Journalism is a touch job because the times are tough with so many things taking place in this fast changing world filled with so many new challenges.

Best of luck to you, dear Faye, and keep up the good work in this "small world, a beautiful world".

Fearless journalist is like a soldier in the border guarding the foundries of the Nation and their life is always at risk. Such journalists are the one who expose the true and real internal face of the Nation without fear or favour of any one in media. For a common man who lives in far fetched corners of the Nation and has no means knowing the truth, what is projected in the media is the Gospel truth for him. Therefore the journalists have more responsible job than the so called responsible people on the job. Not only reporting on true issues, journalists vocabulary and choice of words should impact the listener or reader so that the young and old can enrich their dictionary and imitate with confidence in their personal life while communicating with others.
So called journalist like Arnab Go Swamy are bad example to younger generation. All his shows are biased and consist of shouting matches. The panelists speak over each other on top of their voice shouting and screaming and no listener cab derive any sense. I strongly believe any one participates in his shows is a fool unless he is paid with huge cash reward for participation.

Fay D'souza is one among thousand in journalist fraternity who is fearless, unbiased, and exposes true issues of common man's interest
that affects his daily life. Congratulations Fay, you deserve the fete. Keep up the good work.

Watch out you may be raided for the yeoman service you render exposing truth to common man.

Congrats Faye. I am a great listener of your debates and news flashes. Dr. Roy's NDTV was the only channel which had some decorum and journalistic discipline. Since I Saw your channel and your presentation of debates - I truly liked your channel.

ONE word of caution though - please do not lean towards any particular party even if you like it; likewise do not denounce a party if if you do not like it. When you balance between the likes and dislikes you can achieve more. 90% of our channels are for Shouting matches. I have, at times, seen you emphasizing your point on your displeasure about garbage and chemical froth emanating in BANGALORU CITY. Rather than repeatedly blaming state and central governments, you should take the first shot at irresponsible citizen, corporations and erratic authorities all together.

One thing i always get worried about is.... some of our channels being in foreigners to participate in debates and we expect them to toe our line and we want them to denounce their country on our channels. How silly it looks. Then our channels insult them and others who do not toe the line. We have to develop this maturity in journalism/media. Hope you will not fall prey to such situations.

    Good luck and God bless

I am a regular viewer of this channel anchored by Faye D'souza. What strikes me about her is her willingness and ability to control the speakers. It is always a well organised show where one speaker does not speak over the other. She gives ample time for every one to express his views and does not cut short anybody to suit her convenience. Compare this with the utterly chaotic and disorderly shows anchored by Arnab Goswami where half of the talk is drowned in cacophony. It is heartening to not that Faye D'souza is taking up the cudgels against corruption, communalism and so on. We want more people like Faye and certainly not people like Arnab.

Faye D'Souza could teach some decorum and etiquettes to Arnab Goswami (who by and large is a lunatic) of his "hired" Republic Channel. Mirror Now (launched on March 23, 2017) and Republic Channel (launched on May 6, 2017) became the most sought-after Indian channels.

Most interesting fact is that Faye D'Souza plucked the RedInk Award for 'Journalist of the Year' - and it now remains to be seen when (if at all such a time will ever come) will Arnab Goswami's turn come. By the way, everybody knows that Arnab Goswami shouts and behaves like a street urchin.... so no guesses that he will ever be the lucky one to follow Faye's footsteps.

She truly deserves it. She has shown the real nature and impact of Journalism the world. Propagandists like Arnab CowSwamy & Navika Kumar who manufacture News from opinions must learn a thing or two from Faye D'Souza. She has kept alive the voice of Democracy in a State which is slowly turning to be a Fascist Rule.

Would you mind telling me who is your service provider?

You say it's a local service provider - I reckon it is your cable operator. Right?

    Why shouldn't he provide you?

BTW, it is rather a strange matter .. that is if they are really not providing you with this Channel?
