Moodbidri, Mar 24: Although it appears as though the electric fence caused the death of two friends who had gone hunting in Karinje hill, near Moodbidri, the absence of electric cables near their dead bodies has given rise to several questions.

It is also said that two local persons have gone missing after the news came to light.

The dead bodies of Grashion Rodrigues, resident of Paper Mill and farmer Praveen Tauro, resident of Karinje Kakkebettu were found in Arantar Bakyaru field, Marinjagudde on Thursday afternoon, March 22.

Injuries and marks of burns on the bodies make one to suspect of death due to electrocution. But there were no cables around. The electric pole also is far from the spot. It is not known if somebody kept electric cables to hunt wild boar and removed them soon after the death of these two. The disappearance of two local persons later gives a twist to the incident.

The postmortems of the dead bodies of Grashion Rodrigues and Praeein Tauro were performed in Mangaluru government hospital before handing them over to the respective families on Friday.

The last rites were held on Friday.

Sad that these two deaths are not yet cleared. Is it quite possible these friends were killed or met death elsewhere and later laid there the bodies.?Anything is possible nowadays. But truth will comeout so or so oneday.Whe n someone feels gulty ,shouldnt keep quite.Be honest and say the truth. One can make mistake, but hiding it or trying to put under the carpet is still bigger crime.Heartfelt sympathys to the family.

It is not clear whether they went to that forest in the day or night; and if they had gone for hunting weren't they carrying any arms, normally firearms r used for wild boars as they r very ferocious! Why no arm was found? It is also possible that somebody else was part of the group too, n they went to visit the spot for a check where the supposed trap was laid by them? But still question arises of the missing trap contraption/electric cables, n now mysterious disappearance of 2 localites going missing?

The above is just a personal hypothesis!!

Sad and extend my sympathies on this tragedy.
The families of these deceased are burning with sorrow.
    God bless them with solace.
People should avoid going to someone's property without their permission.
If only they had done this, the innocent lives would have been saved.
    RIP brothers.

This is the clear criminal case. Someone had illegally placed electric cables with the objective catching wild boars and they might have got the alert immediately as 2 innocent people got electrocuted. I am not very sure whether the 2 who are absconding are the culprits but police has to bring the people who are involved in this act to justice. Also strong message to be sent to all farmers and residents across the state about the dangers of laying electric cables to chase away or catch the wild animals.

Did you read the write-up of the Daiiworld news thoroughly? I guess it’s the contrary.

Read the very first line of the write up again…. "Although it appears ……."

You have done a proof-reading on your own by saying "Someone had illegally placed electric cable ….." goes to show that you are very confident about this episode.

Moreover, you have changed the entire meaning of this incident by adding some word(s) knowingly/unknowingly.

There are two versions of this story now. Journalism does not permit you to freely use words per your whims and fancies and unless you do so, it is improper to make any speculations.

Having worked in a reputed newspaper circulation firm "The Indian Express" in Bombay, we were taught these nitty gritty things which makes a world of a change.
