Koppal: Guilty conscience of rapist saves girl from other rapists in group

Koppal, Nov 15: A 'guilty conscience' of one of the gang members who attempted rape on a girl studying in the seventh standard, prevented the others from harming her and she was ultimately released from the clutches of the culprits.

This rare incident happened on the night of Sunday November 12, on the outskirts of Hitnal village near Koppal. A sand mafia gang kidnapped the 13-year-old girl who was sleeping outside her house and tried to rape her. The girl started screaming loudly pleading with the rapists to release her. On seeing the laments of the young girl, one of the gang members felt guilty and he in turn persuaded the other members to let her go unharmed.

The girl, who is shocked by this incident, has taken shelter at the child protection unit of Koppal. This incident spread to the nearby villagers, who phoned the child helpline and the girl from the spot. No case is registered yet in this connection.
